I'm so glad you're here.  I know first hand how hard it can be to reach out for help when you or a family member is struggling.  I also know the positive impact the right help can make to individual and family wellbeing.  Please read below to see if I'm the right person to help you, or family member.

Who do I help?

Here are just some of the clients I have successfully helped:

  • Children, youth, adults struggling with anxiety/depression

  • Children, youth, adults struggling with grief and loss

  • Children, youth, adults struggling with emotional regulation

  • Children struggling to adjust to new living arrangements

  • Children struggling with separation or school issues

  • Parents struggling with parenting children or teens

  • Parents impacted by their own childhood trauma

  • Parents struggling with co-parenting

  • Adult siblings with relationship problems

  • Parent/grandparent relationship problems

  • Adult child/parent relationship problems

How do I help?

I work from a strengths-based, trauma informed and attachment lens.  This means:

  •  I look to an individual and family's strengths as part of the solution to their challenges.

  • I am mindful of the impact of trauma and stress on people's thoughts, feelings and body sensations.

  • I strive to create a therapeutic environment that allows individuals to feel safe enough to be seen and heard.

  • I believe that strengthening relationships is a key component in individual and family healing.

I use a variety of techniques, tailored to the needs and preferences of clients, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

  • Emotion Focused Family Therapy

  • Parent Child Relationship Therapy

  • Functional Family Therapy

  • Play Therapy

I have a warm and positive manner that helps clients to feel safe to work on their difficulties in a  hopeful atmosphere.

What are the benefits of working with me?

  •  grow in self-awareness

  • develop self-regulation skills

  • feel more secure in family relationships

  • feel more confident in anxious situations.

  • feel less stuck in old patterns of behaviour.

What does a typical therapy session look like?

Sessions are 50 minutes, either on zoom or in my office. Other than that, no two therapy sessions are exactly the same.  I will work with you to decide the best approach, depending on your situation and preferences.  Sessions may be for an individual, parent/child or adult family members.   Children usually prefer an in-person, play-based approach.  Teens and adults often do well with a mix of talk therapy, psycho-education and skills practice, either in person or on zoom.

What we work on in the session depends on you or your family's unique challenge. The goals of therapy are worked out with the client and the rationale for each approach is explained so clients feel confident that their investment of time and money will bring positive results. There is ongoing opportunity for feedback from clients to ensure therapy is a helpful and positive experience.
