How do I help?
I work from a strengths-based, trauma informed and attachment lens. This means:
-
I look to an individual and family's strengths as part of the solution to their challenges.
-
I am mindful of the impact of trauma and stress on people's thoughts, feelings and body sensations.
-
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that allows individuals to feel safe enough to be seen and heard.

I believe that strengthening relationships is a key component in individual and family healing.
I use a variety of techniques, tailored to the needs and preferences of clients, including:

What does a typical therapy session look like?
Sessions are 50 minutes, either on zoom or in my office. Other than that, no two therapy sessions are exactly the same. I will work with you to decide the best approach, depending on your situation and preferences. Sessions may be for an individual, parent/child or adult family members. Children usually prefer an in-person, play-based approach. Teens and adults often do well with a mix of talk therapy, psycho-education and skills practice, either in person or on zoom.
What we work on in the session depends on you or your family's unique challenge. The goals of therapy are worked out with the client and the rationale for each approach is explained so clients feel confident that their investment of time and money will bring positive results. There is ongoing opportunity for feedback from clients to ensure therapy is a helpful and positive experience.
